An Unusual Remedy For Panic Attacks: Giving

Panic attacks signify an illness of the body-mind; mostly characterised by sudden increased heart rate and sweating. It is often accompanied by the fear of dying. The body’s ‘fight or flight’ defense mechanism gets activated without the presence of an actual danger.  Here I am sharing an unusual remedy for panic attacks; my discovery about healing the wounded Soul that is behind these body-mind symptoms.

Remedy for Panick Attacks

The people who suffer from panic attacks tend to avoid feeling their emotions more than others in order to avoid being hurt. My unusual remedy for Panic Attacks is giving without expectation.

All Illness Is The Soul’s Call For Help

Even though illnesses are categorised as physical, mental or psychosomatic, I believe all illnesses are ultimately indicating some trouble with our souls. Emotions are like a compass. They carry messages for and from our Soul, but we often stop ourselves from being in touch with our feelings.

There are two reasons:

1) Through socialisation we learn to judge or ignore the messages of our emotions. We lose our ability to be guided by them. In order to please our parents and teachers we give up our compass.

2) Emotions can help us to make choices that may be good for us but may not fit with another person’s worldview. Some people get aggressive when their worldview is challenged. We sometimes learn that it is easier not to feel in order to avoid getting into conflict with people around us.

Over time we learn to distrust our emotions and get disconnected from our souls.

The Message Is Hidden In The Illness

Those who suffer from panic attacks tend to avoid feeling their emotions more than others. They attach themselves tightly to their rules and conformist thoughts. It is incredible what they sacrifice in order to avoid being hurt!

Most Panic Attack sufferers are concerned with their heart rates. Their heart becomes the ruler for whom they will do anything to keep calm. It is as if the heart wants to be released from being suppressed and ignored all the time.

Their Soul wants you to be alive again, not an emotionless robot.

Soul’s Invitation To Be A Giver

People become robot-like in response to their life experiences and ancestral heritage. The answer to overcome such fears of emotions came to me from an unexpected place.

Adam Grant, an extremely smart and funny young social psychologist studied people’s performance at work in relation to their level of giving It turns out that at work, most people operate as either takers, matchers, or givers.

Takers strive to get as much as possible from others. Matchers aim to trade evenly.

Givers are the rare breed of people who contribute to others without expecting anything in return.

The subject of this article came to me when I was experiencing a few moments in silence this morning. There was no other reason to write it.

The rewards of giving without expectation are so powerful for our Souls that even panic attack sufferers will start healing. They will experience the courage and the joy of feeling again and again and go from strength to strength.
