Secrets Of Learning A Language Really Fast

At last collecting all the data for my research on Turkish ex-patriots’ needs and experiences is complete. I am in the process of preparing an e-book and a course to solve some of their problems. One of the key findings was the language barrier which made daily life really stressful, also contributed to a sense of loneliness. We believe that certain people are more talented in learning a language than others.

Here I am sharing some of the scientific data about how you can learn any language really fast. If you use them you will make unexpected progress in learning a language independent of your genetic make-up. But look out for my e-book later this year for more detailed version of this post.

secrets of learning a language really fast

Learning a language requires removing psychological blockages and using scientifically proven simple techniques.

Psychological Blockages For Learning A Language

First of all you need to eliminate the psychological blockages that can potentially undermine your efforts:

  • Identify your beliefs about learning a language. Replace unhelpful ones with the ones that serve you.
  • Replace negative self-talk with positive one.
  • Dissociate any negative emotional connection with the people who are native speakers of that language and with the language itself.
  • Throw away perfectionist attitudes and prepare yourself to make mistakes.
  • If you cannot do it yourself, get help.

Easy Steps To Implement In Learning A Language

Now you are ready to implement the simple techniques that will teach your brain the new language:

  1. In order to store any information in our brain we need relevance. Focus on your interests to develop your vocabulary. Create context that are relevant to you.
  2. Listen to the new language being spoken even if you do not understand. Your mind will store the rhythm and sounds.
  3. Create contexts where you only use this new language without reference to your native language. For example you can speak only in this language with a chosen friend.
  4. Practice thinking and daydreaming in the new language by yourself.
  5. Speak and make mistakes.
  6. Choose a native speaker who is going to be your language partner. You will speak together and s/he will never correct you.

  1. guess or confess that having read your article, I do not know why if you speak with someone who is a native of the language you want to speak, why that person will not correct you.
But maybe it is to get you used to being able to practice speaking without fear of making mistakes.
    I don’t know.

But thanks for the article it has made me think

Thank you for your comment on this post Michael,
Some peopel are more sensitive than others when it comes to criticism.
You and I know very well that whilst learning a language making mistakes is the norm rather than the exception.
However for those who do not allow themselves to make a mistake being corrected kills their motivation to practice.
That is why these people benefit more from wachting movies on their own or from talking without being corrected.
I hope this clarifies your puzzlement.

    Best wishes
