Raising The Value Of Feminine Creativity In Treating Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common hormonal disorders. It affects up to one in five women of reproductive age. As you are reading this you or somebody you know is likely to suffer from PCOS.  Here you will find some idea about this common condition from a body-mind connection perspective.

This Post Is Just For Women And Men Who Care :)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has become a widespread problem among women. Its symptoms are increase in male characteristics, as if women unconsciously disown their femaleness. We need to respect the feminine for what she is, together as men and women and release some of the creative powers within the feminine.

Symptoms of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in Women

Irregularity in the periods is the most common sign of PCOS. Increased male hormone testosterone often leads to excess facial and body hair, and sometimes severe acne and male-pattern baldness. Ovaries might be enlarged and contain follicles that surround the eggs causing the ovaries fail to function normally. These cysts develop continuously are what gives the name to the illness.

Even though the causes (the aetiology) is not understood completely, most doctors know the medical treatments for this condition.

Doctors usually advise lifestyle changes and lifelong medication.

New research indicates that the symptoms may be associated with psychological difficulties such as depression, anxiety, body image dissatisfaction, eating and sexual disorders, and low levels of reward and satisfaction.

The agreement about addressing both physical and psychological complaints in the treatment of PCOS is increasing.

Women and Body-Mind Connection in PCOS

Even though our bodies are our temples a lot of us tend to have a problematic relationship with our bodies.  Jungian analyst Marion Woodman explains the connection between our health and upbringing that leads us to be fearful and distrusting of our bodies.

Thus many physical symptoms women experience are related to unconscious traumas we experience (or experienced) as the result of cultural oppression as well as other acts of abuse and violence.

Within these understandings ovarian cysts are thought of as the expression of unfulfilled creative expression.

Our personal choices, as well as with how women are conditioned to live their lives to be accepted in society are responsible for some of us not living fully creative lives.

Releasing Feminine Creativity

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is becoming so prevalent that it is now of clinical and public health importance. PCOS symptoms are showing us all how (unconsciously) one in five women seem to prefer to be man-like.

There is even a compliment in Turkish language that goes ‘A woman like a man’.

One of the dangers is infertility.

These are warning signs that our culture is out of balance.

Like the Mother Earth planet who we take for granted will nurture us unconditionally even as we rape her resources and biodiversity women (after generations of abuse) are suffering parallel symptoms.

In order to reinstate the balance we need to respect the feminine for what she is, not for its ability to mimic men.  If we can come together as men and women and release some of the creative powers within the feminine we will all benefit.
