How To Quickly Overcome Procrastination

I think the people who know the effects of procrastinating most are the elderly. This week I visited the famous ceramic artist Sadi Diren, who is now 90 year old. Even though his body is too weak to make ceramics, I was impressed to see how he continues his artistic expression through photography.

What Is the Sedona Method ?

Lester Levenson, a physicist and successful entrepreneur was diagnosed with a heart condition at age 42, and told that he had only a few months to live. The Sedona Method is what he discovered in order to save his life. This is a way of letting go of all inner limitations through a process of releasing negative emotions.

Not only, did he become totally healthy again in three months he exuded profound peace and thought this method until his death, at age 85.

The simplicity of this method is deceptive. The key is to allow the emotion that is bothering you at your core to surface with your whole being and immerse yourself into it.

Then you simply ask these three questions:

  1. Could I let this feeling go?
  2. Would I let this feeling go?
  3. When?

Circularity Between Procrastination And Negative Emotions

When your answer is no with an explanation you will notice that the reason will involve one or more of these drives:

  • Control
  • Approval
  • Survival, safety
  • Separation and closeness

Procrastination is one of many manifestations of negative emotions Once you identify emotion, belief or a memory that stops your release you then you repeat the questions in order to release them.  You do this as many rounds as you need to do.

The Sedona Method’s Assumptions

Here are the assumptions that are at the core of Sedona Method:

  1. We are not our thoughts, feelings, emotions, or limiting beliefs.
  2. We have the built-in ability to let go of any thought, feeling, emotion, or limiting belief in any moment
  3. Underneath all of our thoughts, feelings, emotions, and limiting beliefs, our true nature is happiness.

Why And How Does It Work?

Asking these questions at the moment you are immersed in the emotion allows you to separate yourself from the feeling and you become an observer to it. As you continue asking the first two questions until you get the answer yes, your identification with the emotion dissolves as your self awareness increases.
